Colombia Air Force Altitude Chamber Training Completed

Six personnel from the Colombian Air Force (Fuerza Aérea Colombiana) completed training programs and acceptance testing of their newest 6/2 Hypobaric (Altitude) Chamber built by Environmental Tectonics Corporation’s (ETC) Aircrew Training Systems Division (ATS). This system represents ETC’s many years of experience as the world’s leading supplier of state-of-the-art, reliable and safe ”Man-Rated” chambers to AeroMedical Centers worldwide.

The Colombia Hypobaric Altitude Chamber supports training of personnel in altitude indoctrination flights, hypoxia, rapid decompression, oxygen equipment use, and emergency procedures, research and altitude acclimation.

This 6 person main, 2 person lock chamber, when installed will be the highest Altitude Chamber installation in the world at, 6,800 feet msl. Training occured at the end of August 2009, and consisted of Hypobaric Physiology Training, and Operation & Maintenance Training.  In-depth training was provided on the newest AutoFlight computerized operating system which provides automatic flight control and monitoring of the chamber.
